"August 15, 2018. That was the day of the Panic! At The Disco concert that my mom was taking me to.

We were sitting in our seats and watching while the opening acts performed. (Arizona and Hayley Kiyoko).  During Hayley’s performance, my mom turned to me and said, “She’s probably a lesbian.”

I said, “No, Mom. She’s Bi. You know there’s more to LGBTQ than just lesbian and gay right? You don’t need to label everyone just under those two.”

My mom responded, “You say that as if you’re gay. You know it’s okay if you are, you can just tell me.” At one point it was awkward for me, sitting there during the break between acts, in a trap because I’ve practically outed myself to my mom. It really wasn’t how I was planning on telling her.

But regardless, I told her I was Pan.

Of course, she had no idea what it was and classified it as “Bi” at first. But eventually she understood after a long time. And she’s been supportive no matter what. And I even told her that Brendon Urie was also Pan. And the concert went on."

i bit my tongue and waited for the sun to rise
i bit my thoughts and averted my eyes

i said that i was what i’d been told
the sky grows gold

heroes boast of victory
forgetting fears of defeat
erasing ink exposing
frozen expeditions

attempts to reach the summit didn’t work this time

a large fault line
the fault is mine

i think i am paralyzed
my mouth went dry
it’s easier to hide and try not to try

but the mountain is cold
and the sky grows gold

i don’t want to end up alone and dead
the sky grows red.

dawn is warm
the sun on my back keeps me away from harm
bundles of courage in my arms

only one footstep to see the stunning view
the sky grows blue

“So basically I’m a trans youth. I am a guy who was born as a girl but over time I’ve learned to accept myself more which has made me much much happier. It’s hard sometimes as is everything but coming out for me was so worth it. It’s hard to come out as anything out of the ordinary but so worth it. It’s a hard concept to understand when you’re not experiencing it which I understand but it’s also frustrating. Where I live, I legally can’t use the proper bathroom and it’s frustrating because I always get glares when i’m in the women’s bathroom because of my appearance. But it’s just something I have to deal with, I know that in the future it’s gonna be easier for me and others like me. I have hope for the future so I wish you all good luck!”
