How To Submit

Step 1: Be a member of the LGBTQ+ community!

Step 2: Decide on what you're going to submit!

Thinking of submission ideas can be difficult, but that's okay! When deciding on how you want your voice to be heard, keep in mind why being a member of the LGBTQ+ community is special for you in particular.

Some ideas for submissions:
  • Personal stories (Coming out stories, positive experiences in the community, negative experiences in the community)
  • Pieces of creative writing
  • Drawings
  • Paintings
  • Original photographs
  • Original song lyrics
  • Advice for people in the community
  • Advice for people not in the community
  • Poems
Anything that tells even a small piece of your LGBTQ story and can be printed on paper is welcome and will be celebrated. If you're still having a tough time deciding on what to submit, head over to the Examples of Submissions page for some more inspiration!

Step 3: Proofread!
Be sure to proofread your submission before entering it by checking for spelling, capitalization, and grammar errors. In other words, make sure your entry is exactly the way you want it to be published in the "True Colors" book before submitting! Too many grammar errors may result in your submission not making the final cut.

Step 4: Make sure your submission meets the following requirements!
  • Submissions must not include lewd, inappropriate, or offensive content.
  • Submission must be original.
  • Submissions must be good-natured and created with the intention to benefit/inspire the LGBTQ+ community and those in it.
Failure to adhere to these guidelines will result in your submission being disregarded and will not be included in the "True Colors" project.

Step 5: Upload your submission!

Congratulations You're finally ready to upload your submission to the "True Colors" project! Good job! Click here to be taken to the "True Colors" submission form. You will be asked for your email (Mandatory so I have a way to contact you if need be), your first name, and your age (Both optional - leave one or both blank if you do not wish to include it in your submission. Don't worry - requesting anonymity is completely valid and understandable).

If you have a text submission, make sure you format using Google Docs. Images may be uploaded separately (unless you wish for them to be embedded within your text. In that case, include everything in your Google Docs).

Step 6: Share, share, share!

Now that you've submitted your unique piece of the LGBTQ+ puzzle to the "True Colors" project, feel free to share this website with other people you know in the community! Following and sharing the "True Colors" social media linked below would be greatly appreciated. The more submissions that are received, the more lives will be touched and the bigger impact this project will have on society.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking an interest in the "True Colors" project. Your submission, filled with its passion and pride, will undoubtedly make waves throughout the LGBTQ+ community and add just a little more color to the world around us.
